Hospitality heavyweights gathered recently at thee FEI Showroom I Southport to hear Mr Peter Lawlor outline the Government's initiatives for the promotion of tourism in Queensland, and in particular for the South East corner.
The event just happened to coincide with an announcement from Premier Anna Bligh of a $5M advertising campaign for Queensland featuring a special song based on the old Monkey's hit, Hey Hey We're the Monkeys except Queensland's version is Hey Hey this is Queensland and features 4 of the contestants from the recent World's Best Job competition monkeying their way around Queensland's best tourism locations.
The Minister was extremely relaxed as he spoke individually with General Managers, Food and Beverage Managers and Executive Chefs from the top hotels both from the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Many guests travelled from Brisbane to attend.
Also in attendance were representatives of top Clubs on the Gold Coast, as well as leading Developers, including Brookfield Multiplex and Niecon Developments.
The guests were treated to an array of local wines, champagnes, beers and locally produced gourmet foods. A highlight of the evening were the 5 desserts created by Sebastian Kuhn, Executive Chef of Sea World Resort, in collaboration with Tamborine Mountain Distillery, a boutique liqueur company who makes liqueurs using Australian bush ingredients. Mr Michael Ward from Tamborine Mountain Distillery was on hand to supply tastings of his wonderfully diverse, yet totally and uniquely Aussie products.
