At IEI we provide beautiful, custom-made solutions for premium class food service for airlines, rail and cruise lines. IEI specialises in taking your conceptual ideas from design to completion all within your target budget.  

For more than 20 years IEI has been working in partnership with the food and beverage teams of many of the world’s favourite airlines designing and creating very unique and beautifully co-ordinated chinaware, cutlery, glassware, table linen and serving-ware for first class and business class. More recently our special design service has been extended to include solutions for rail and cruise lines. 

The experienced team at IEI spend as much time as necessary to ensure that the final result is a reflection of the culture and origins of each carrier’s home base, combined with the ambience of a fine dining restaurant or 5 star hotel.

Once we have your brief we work very closely with our partner factories, constantly refining the designs until they are just right.  Then we produce samples for your final approval prior to full production taking place.   When we are sure you are completely delighted and we have your final sign-off, we "press the button" on the production line and your order is produced and delivered on time and within budget.

Our Quality Control is Your Protection…….

We quality-test our Chinaware and Cutlery BEFORE we deliver it to you.  

To ensure perfection, before any chinaware order is delivered we submit actual production samples to CERAM for testing.   CERAM is an independent UK based ceramics testing laboratory that can test chinaware for porosity, water absorption, chip resistance, glaze hardness, microwave and dishwasher safety.

Our cutlery is submitted to CATRA (Cutlery and Allied Trade Research Association) also based in the UK.   CATRA are the world’s foremost leading authority for stainless steel cutlery.  All our cutlery is tested and certified by CATRA to international standards for material authenticity, workmanship, surface hardness, overall finish, commercial suitability and safety in use.

At IEI we haven’t forgotten about your budget-conscious travellers.

IEI pioneered the design and development of the Lightweight Porcelain Economy Hot Meal Dish.

We conceived this idea several years ago when it became apparent that the traditional “foil” hot meal containers frequently used for economy class hot meal service were extremely environmentally unfriendly and contributed massively to land fill each year.  They were very much a “single use” item and could not be recycled.

We did some initial product development to come up with a lightweight porcelain meal dish that could withstand the rigours of airline kitchens and wash-up areas and yet would not contribute significantly to any additional weight “drag” when the aircraft takes off.  

After extensive testing the new lightweight porcelain dish was proven to be much cheaper in use than the old foils.   We gave a batch of porcelain meal dishes to one of our airline clients and then followed their life cycle.  The results were far better than we ever imagined with the dishes surviving an average of 84 rotations before they were lost or broken.  A stunning achievement when compared to the one-use foils.  

The benefits of this unique dish reach far beyond the obvious fuel and cost savings.  You are now able to offer your economy class guests a much more attractive hot meal presentation that will enhance their overall onboard experience.   

Stainless Steel Cutlery in Economy Class………

Just because many of your guests are on a budget, it shouldn’t doesn’t mean that they need to be constantly reminded of their budget constraints.   They are sitting on the aircraft for a very long time and meal times can become a source of entertainment……a bit of light relief to break the tedium of the journey.

Why not delight your economy-class guests with some “proper” cutlery to go along with their porcelain hot meal dishes.  

With so little to do inflight, it is truly the little things that your guests will remember, and if they remember eating out of a porcelain dish with stainless steel cutlery (instead of a foil container with plastic cutlery) this indeed will go a long way to ensuring you will be remembered next time the guest is considering future travel plans.
